DES MOINES, IOWA – After Soy Basics announced it would close its New Hampton plant on June 30 of this year, local legislators said they will work to find another business to take over the space and help displaced workers find new jobs.

“We’ve talked with state workforce and economic development officials regarding the plant closure and we will do all we can to help workers find new jobs,” said State Representative Todd Prichard of Charles City.  “We’re going to start working right away to bring another business to New Hampton.”

“I’m deeply disappointed Soy Basics is closing and we will make sure state and local officials are working together to help the displaced workers,” said Sen. Mary Jo Wilhelm of Cresco.
